What you'll learn
- The tango walk β posture, axis and grounded, deliberate steps
- The embrace: open and close frame, and how to lead or follow through the chest
- The ocho, the cross and the foundational figures of Argentine tango
- Pauses and musicality β dancing to the phrasing of tango music
- Floor craft for a milonga, so you can dance comfortably anywhere
- A plan for your goals, whether it's a wedding, a trip to Buenos Aires or a new hobby
Argentine tango is improvised, intimate and built on the walk. It rewards patience and precise connection, which is exactly why we teach it one-on-one: every lesson is built around your body, your partner and your goals.
We don't run a weekly group tango class. Tango at Dennis PaSamba is taught through private lessons and on request β come solo and dance with your instructor, or come as a couple and learn to lead and follow each other.
A single 55-minute private lesson is $125, and bundles lower the price per lesson. If you'd like to try a group setting first, our free intro classes in Salsa, Bachata or Cumbia are a relaxed way to meet the studio.
Lessons take place at 4820 W. Irving Park Rd. in Chicago, with street parking outside and an easy trip from Old Irving Park, Portage Park, Jefferson Park, Avondale and the rest of the northwest side.
