How to schedule a make-up
Text 717-PaSamba (717-727-2622) with your name and the class you missed. We will point you to a matching class you can join.
The four-week window
Make-ups need to happen within four weeks of your start date. After that, the missed class cannot be carried forward.
Catching up
If you missed week one, arrive a few minutes early to your next class and the instructor will help you review the basic.
Understanding Make-Up Class Timing
Make-up classes are designed to help you stay on track with your Bachata learning. We understand that schedules can be busy, and life events can sometimes interfere with your regular class attendance. Our make-up policy is flexible to accommodate these situations while ensuring you continue to progress effectively. The four-week window for make-ups begins from the first day of your specific four-week session, not from the day you missed a class. This allows for a clear and consistent timeframe for everyone. For example, if your session started on the first of the month, any make-up must be completed by the 28th of that same month. This timeframe ensures the material is still fresh and relevant to your current session's progress. Missing a class can be frustrating, but our goal is to minimize disruption to your learning journey. We encourage you to schedule your make-up as soon as possible after missing a class to maximize its benefit. You can always text us with questions about your specific make-up window. We are here to help you understand your options and ensure you get the most out of your Bachata classes at Dennis PaSamba Dance Company.
What to Expect in Your Make-Up Class
When you attend a make-up class, you'll be joining a different session that may be at a slightly different point in its curriculum. This is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Our instructors are skilled at integrating new students into ongoing classes smoothly. The primary purpose of a make-up class is to provide you with an opportunity to practice the steps and concepts you missed. It's a chance to move your body and get familiar with the Bachata rhythms, even if the specific pattern taught is not exactly what you missed. Focus on the core Bachata steps, partner connection, and musicality. Don't worry about trying to catch up on every single detail from your missed class. The make-up class will reinforce fundamental techniques that are crucial for all levels of Bachata. Your instructor can also offer a quick tip if you mention which week you missed before class begins. This ensures you still gain valuable experience and continue your dance development. We want you to feel comfortable and confident during your make-up. Just show up ready to dance and enjoy the Bachata experience.
Alternative: The Friday Social
While make-up classes are structured learning opportunities, the Friday Social is a different option to consider for extra practice. The Friday Social is not a substitute for a missed class. It is a relaxed, open practice session where you can freely dance and apply what you've learned. It costs $15 to attend and offers a friendly environment to practice your Bachata. You can dance with different partners, refine your lead and follow techniques, and simply enjoy the music. This is an excellent way to supplement your learning and get more time on the dance floor. If you missed a class and have already made it up, or if you simply want more practice, the Friday Social is a great way to do so. It's a fun and low-pressure way to build your confidence and expand your social dance skills. Remember, the Friday Social is for practice and enjoyment, and does not replace the structured curriculum of a make-up class. It's an extra opportunity to immerse yourself in the Bachata community at Dennis PaSamba Dance Company. Come join us to dance and connect with other students.
