Common questions

Can I come to the Friday social as a beginner?

Yes — and you should. Our Friday socials are known for being welcoming to new dancers. Come early, watch a few songs, then dance. People here ask beginners to dance on purpose.

Do I need to bring a partner?

No. Socials are all about rotating partners. Arrive alone and you'll dance all night.

What music is played on Friday nights?

The 1st and 3rd Friday is a salsa, bachata and cumbia night from 7 to 11 pm. The 2nd and 4th Friday is a dedicated Kizomba Social from 7:30 to 11 pm.

Is there a lesson before the social?

Friday socials include drop-in practice time — the only drop-in format we offer. Every other class on the timetable is a 4-week progressive series.

Where is the Friday social held?

4820 W. Irving Park Rd, Chicago — street parking outside, easy from Old Irving Park, Portage Park, Avondale, Logan Square and Jefferson Park.

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel good moving in. Smooth-soled shoes help you turn; we sell dance shoes in the studio if you want a pair.
