No partner needed — we rotate partners all class long. Missed a class? You have 4 weeks from your start date to make it up at no extra cost.

Kizomba is the quiet counterweight to salsa and bachata. There are no spins to chase and no fast footwork to memorise — instead you learn to walk with another person in perfect agreement. Students who've danced for years often say kizomba is the first time they truly understood connection.

Our Kizomba Level 1 course starts from the walk. Over four progressive weeks you'll build posture, the close embrace, basic 1 through 3, saida, and the musicality to make it all feel like dancing rather than stepping. No partner needed — we rotate all class long.

Chicago doesn't have many dedicated kizomba floors, which is exactly why we run one. The Kizomba Social lands on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month from 7:30 to 11 pm, and it's the natural place to use everything class gave you.

Classes and socials both take place at 4820 W. Irving Park Rd in Chicago, with street parking outside and an easy trip from Old Irving Park, Portage Park, Avondale, Logan Square and the rest of the northwest side.

Common questions

What is kizomba?

Kizomba is a slow, grounded partner dance from Angola danced in a close, walking connection. There are no fast spins — it's all about weight transfer, musicality and listening to your partner through the frame.

Is kizomba hard to learn?

The steps are simple; the connection takes practice. Because there's no rush and no complicated footwork, kizomba is very approachable for absolute beginners — but it rewards people who keep coming back.

Do I need a partner for kizomba classes in Chicago?

No. We rotate partners through the whole class, which is the fastest way to develop the lead-and-follow sensitivity kizomba depends on.

Where can I dance kizomba in Chicago?

Our Kizomba Social runs the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month from 7:30 to 11 pm at 4820 W. Irving Park Rd. It's one of the few dedicated kizomba floors in the city.

How much do kizomba lessons cost?

$95 for the 4-week progressive course, with free make-up classes within four weeks of your start date. Private lessons start at $125 for 55 minutes.

Can I try kizomba if I already dance salsa or bachata?

Absolutely — and it'll make you a better dancer. Kizomba forces you to slow down and lead with your body instead of your arms, which carries straight back into salsa and bachata.
