What will you learn in our Salsa On2 shines and solo footwork classes for beginners?
Salsa On2 shines are solo footwork patterns that you dance without a partner. When you dance Salsa On2, also known as New York style salsa, you break on the second beat of the music. Learning shines helps you understand timing, rhythm, and body control. In our beginner classes, we start with the absolute fundamentals. You will learn how to count the music correctly and step with precision right from your very first session.
Solo footwork is an essential part of becoming a complete salsa dancer. During a song, partners often break apart to perform individual footwork before coming back together. Practicing solo footwork improves your balance, weight transfer, and speed. You do not need to worry about leading or following when you practice shines. Instead, you can focus entirely on your own feet, posture, and coordination while building strong muscle memory for future social dancing.
Our beginner group classes cost $95 for 4 weeks of structured instruction. We make sure every lesson is clear, fun, and easy to follow for brand new dancers. You do not need any prior dance experience to join us. We break down complex movements into simple, repeatable steps. By repeating the basic shines each week, you will quickly feel comfortable keeping time with the music and moving your feet with ease.
You do not need to bring a partner to attend our group classes. Everyone works on solo footwork together in a supportive group environment. If we practice partner work during class, partners rotate continuously so everyone gets to dance with different people. This setup creates a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where you can meet fellow dance enthusiasts. You will feel comfortable practicing your new shines alongside other beginners who share your goals.
