Learning to hear the beat is a crucial part of mastering Sonidero Cumbia. In our beginner sessions, we spend dedicated time helping you understand the rhythm and tempo of classic sonidero music. We listen to the guacharaca, the bass lines, and the iconic DJ shout-outs that define the genre. Once you connect with the rhythm, stepping to the music becomes second nature and extremely fun.
During class, we cover essential fundamental footwork like the basic side-to-side step, back breaks, and simple turns. Sonidero style uses a grounded, relaxed movement that feels very natural to practice. We build up your skills week by week without rushing. You will learn how to lead or follow cleanly without feeling overwhelmed. Our goal is to make social dancing enjoyable for every single student.
