How rotation works
The class forms a circle of leads and follows. Every few minutes the instructor calls a rotation and everyone moves to the next partner, so you practice with the whole room by the end of the hour.
Why rotating makes you better
Dancing with one person lets you lean on their habits. Switching partners teaches you to lead and follow clearly, which is exactly what you need at a social where you will dance with strangers.
Coming as a couple?
Couples are welcome too. You will still rotate, and you can dance together whenever the class pauses for practice songs.
What to Expect in Your Bachata Class
Bachata is a beautiful social dance from the Dominican Republic. Our classes focus on fundamental steps and basic partner work. You will learn rhythm, timing, and how to connect with your partner. Each 4-week session builds on the previous week's material. We start with simple footwork and progress to more intricate patterns. Your instructor will demonstrate each move clearly. You will have plenty of time to practice with different partners. We emphasize good technique and clear communication. This helps you become a confident social dancer. Our goal is to make learning bachata fun and accessible. Even if you have never danced before, you will feel comfortable. We provide a supportive and friendly atmosphere. Come discover the joy of bachata dancing. Our studio is located at 4820 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago, IL 60641. This is in the Six Corners neighborhood. Free parking is available for your convenience. You can text or call us at 717-PaSamba (717-727-2622) for more details. Classes are designed for adults of all experience levels.
Class Structure and Practice
Each class begins with a warm-up. This gets your body ready for dancing. Then, the instructor reviews previous steps. This helps reinforce what you have learned. New material is then introduced. The instructor breaks down complex moves into manageable parts. You will practice steps individually first. Then, you will practice with partners. Rotating partners gives you varied experience. It helps you adapt to different lead and follow styles. The instructor circulates to offer personalized feedback. They will help you refine your technique. Questions are always welcome during class. We encourage you to ask if something is unclear. Towards the end of class, we have practice time. This is when you can dance to music. It helps you put everything together. It is a great way to build muscle memory. Our group classes are held in 4-week sessions. The cost is $95 per session. No partner is needed for any of our classes. All adults are welcome to join. If you miss a week, you can make it up. Simply speak with your instructor about make-up options. Please note that we do not offer refunds for missed classes. We want you to get the most out of your session. Consider attending a Friday Social to practice your new skills. These are practice events, not classes. The cost for a Friday Social is $15.
