Outdoors

Outdoor Wedding First Dance

Outdoor floors are uneven and the weather has opinions. A shorter routine and the right shoes keep the moment easy.

The surface

Know what you will stand on.

  • Grass: heels sink, so wear wedges or flats
  • Stone or pavers: watch for gaps that catch a heel
  • Wood deck or rented floor: closest to the studio

Wind and length

Wind lifts veils and skirts, so keep the turn low and simple. Cut the routine shorter than you would indoors; uneven ground makes long dances tiring.

Questions people ask

Should we practice outside?

One run-through on grass or a patio in your shoes is worth it.
