What the first lesson covers
We work through five decisions in order, because each one shapes the next.
- Song: we count it out and find the tempo and the natural breaks.
- Who leads: chosen by comfort and the music, not by tradition.
- Entrance: how you walk onto the floor and take your first hold.
- One turn: a single, clean turn placed on a strong beat.
- One dip: a safe, low-effort dip for the ending or the chorus.
Why it is private, not a group class
A group class teaches steps that fit everyone. A first dance has to fit one song, one dress or suit, and one couple. Working privately lets Dennis change counts, slow a section down, or swap a move the moment it feels wrong for you.
Most couples finish the routine inside the 3-lesson package: $399 for the couple, not per person. Lesson two adds the middle of the song; lesson three polishes the ending and the walk-off.
Questions people ask
Do we need any dance experience?
No. Most couples who book have never taken a lesson. The first hour starts from walking in time to your song.
Should we bring our song?
Yes. Bring it on your phone. If you have not chosen one yet, bring two or three options and we will help you pick.
