Style guide

Salsa Wedding Dance

Salsa brings energy: quick turns, a sharp stop, a dip that makes the room cheer. It is the right tool for an upbeat song or for the fast section of a mashup. It is the wrong tool for a very slow ballad.

Check the tempo first

If you can clap along comfortably at a quick walking pace, salsa fits. If the song feels like a slow sway, salsa steps will look rushed. In that case we use bachata or a simple sway and save one salsa turn for the big moment.

One highlight move

Guests remember one thing. Choose either a double turn or a dip and place it on the strongest beat of the song. Everything else stays simple, which keeps nerves low on the day.

  • Upbeat song: salsa basic, cross-body lead, one turn
  • Ending: a dip held for two counts
  • Slow song: skip salsa, keep just the turn

Questions people ask

Can we mix salsa into a slow song?

Yes, as a short switch. Many couples start slow, then the DJ cuts to a salsa track for the last 45 seconds.
