Couple practicing a relaxed dance frame

Two grooms

Two Grooms First Dance

Two suits, two sets of shoulders, one dance. The goal is a frame that looks relaxed, a clear lead, and a dip that looks warm rather than stiff.

Frame

Tight shoulders make any couple look tense. We keep elbows soft and the hold a little wider so jackets do not pull.

Lead

Decide by feel, not by height. Some grooms trade the lead once during the song, which looks natural and gives each of you a moment.

A dip that does not look stiff

The steadier partner supports. The partner being dipped bends at the knees and lets the head follow the spine instead of locking straight. Practiced low, then a little deeper.

Questions people ask

Will our jackets get in the way?

Practice in them once. We adjust the hold if sleeves are tight.
