You don’t need a collection of turns before your first night out. Start with a repeatable basic step and give yourself time to hear the rhythm. On a busy dance floor, smaller movements leave room for others. Ask someone to dance rather than assuming, and remember that either person can politely decline an invitation.
Our founder and lead instructor, Dennis PaSamba, has taught Latin dance in Chicago since 1992. Group classes are $95 for 4 weeks, and partners rotate. That means you can arrive on your own rather than arranging a dance partner first. If you’re unsure where to begin, ask us about current cumbia learning options before booking.

Are you a cumbia nightclub?
No, we’re a dance studio. We help you work toward feeling more comfortable dancing, rather than offering a nightclub listing or guaranteeing what nearby venues play.
Can I come without a partner or experience?
Yes. No partner and no experience needed, and partners rotate in group classes so you don’t have to bring someone.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that let you move easily. Choose secure shoes, and ask us about footwear if you’re unsure what would suit a studio class.
How much are group classes?
